Trancoso

The Village of St. John the Baptist of the Indians, Current Trancoso, was founded in 1586 by the Jesuits in order to evangelize the native Indians and create a position to combat smuggling of Pau-Brazil. Thus was chosen the top of a hill where you can see one scenario beaches, cliffs, rivers and palm trees.
Trancoso is on the Discovery Coast, where the Portuguese arrived, the first time. Remembering the first time is the church of St. John which is in the Square, which is considered Brazil's National Historic Landmark.
